'Latin Space Race' or 'Carrera Espacial' takes local Latin events to a new astrological level. Everything Uber Lingua does is cutting edge and this party is no exception... Adopting a futuristic theme, Latin Space Race explores ultra-modern music, video, performance and costume sourced from the many Latin nations. Unlike other Uber Lingua parties this will have 5 rooms (2 up on usual) with a dedicated Argentinean room, a Brasilian Room and a Mexican room... with the bigger downstairs space and beer garden being more free-form and LIVE focused. 

Performers and Punters alike should dust off their space suits for a launch into the stratosphere! DJs, MCs and musicians are being gathered from the Uber Lingua crews in Sydney and Melbourne (about 10) with a few coming from Canberra also, so it's one big gathering of east coast alterna-latinos! There are even rumors of MCs teleporting in from Wellington.

The Audience has a part to play also, upon entry each punter will be asked to vote for their Latin Nation of choice... encouraging the performers to 'bring their people'... Punters who wear Future-Latin fancy dress get a bonus vote! Punters who go as far as wearing a Hispanic Space Suit get TWO BONUS VOTES!!!! At 2.30am the winning nation of the Latin Space race will be determined and the victorious nation is awarded the final set of the night on the main room sound system with all other spaces closed down by that point, they will have the entire party at their disposal to drop their victory set! The competitive aspect of this event goes further with a moon walking competition held for the punters at the peak of the night.

Performing on the night we have the Sydney TIMBALADA posse, inspired by the Brasilian act by the same name this crew of sexy girls and hot bare chested Latin men drop a live Batucada percussion set that will bring down the house. Cuban reggaeton swooner POCHOMAN delivers a powerful set of vocal passion over modern beats dropped by local selector Mashy P. Likewise Columbian wordsmith and Radio skid row reggae presenter ALTAFARI works with African born DJ producer Jonah... Melbourne's CUMBIA COSMONAUTS drop a future cumbia set similar to what is popular in Argentina & Mexico at the moment, featuring Columbian accordion player Don Carlos Parraga Garcia Rico Urunena Ijo Mal Parido. Brasilian Baile funk MCs CITY OF GOD ELETRO brings the high tempo energy of the favelas to the crowd. 

DJ wise the likes of Sydney prodigal son Gonzo the mad Peruvian (now living in Melbourne), DubChaman (Arg), Bruno LT (Rio), bP (Melb), saka la mois DJ (Mex), conquistador Michael Correa & Canberra's Panama Embassy (featuring DJs Angel & Brujo) will grace the decks. Guido Melo & his hip hop loving brother DJ Jurt from Rio, DJ Spex (Arg), Patto (Chile), Vapor (Chile), Mashy P (UK) & DJ Mono (Palacio Bros - Arg) are also on hand...  with many more from other nations TBA...

Ever since he was a child, Pocho liked to dance, act and sing and believes that he inherited the music in his blood. In 1998 he started working with a group called Onda Expansiva and this was when the name Pochoman became his artistic name. Onda expansiva won an audition out of 500 other hip hop groups to perform at the International Hip Hop Festival of Cuba. 

Pochoman was offered the chance to sing in America, Brazil and Europe however due to his country's system of government he was unable to go. He has sung on radio and shared the stage with various other famous cuban artists such as Haila, Polo Montanez, Los Van Van, Carlos Manuel among others. He claims to be the only hip hop artist that has had the honour of singing in front of Fidel Castro.

Versatility may have a wider mean when we talk about Bruno LT's activities with brazilian music and audio techniques. His full dedication led him to work with great names of the Brazilian Popular Music. Extremely sensible to musicality, the DJ and Producer applies the large experience acquired on his own projects involving new talents of the Brazilian alternative music. After having worked for a few years at a great studio in Rio, he had the chance to produce and release some of his tracks and remixes. Soon, LT became the resident DJ of the main electronic parties, making the first experiments of the pioneer Carioca_s Live P.A's. Projects such as the Dub Mentals band incorporated his authenticity in which he develops a set with keyboards, pick-ups, samplers and effects..

DJ Spex 

DJ Spex is a proud Latin DJ spinning alternative tracks that fuse with his background to offer energy unlike others in this town... Latin-Rock, Latin-Ska, Latin-Reggae, Latin-Hip-hop. He's a regular at the DNBBQ's and works closely with MC Hernan. Spex has been a regular at Sydney Uber Lingua parties since they kicked off in 2005...

DJ Jonah vs Altafari

Altafari was born in colombia, star his artis carrer as a dj playing at colombias clubs and also in aradio station in bogotathem he moves to australia where he take his music carrer more serios and star to perform in polular venues in sydney and also melbourne, he eventually cuch up with dj jonah and dj trip tix and star to work toghether in differents proyects like the formely 4:20 productions now west labsaltafari`s music is about dub, reggae and dancehall mostly in spanish as he says" i rather do my music in spanish not just `cose there is so much that haved been told for so many artist in english but to bring all this goo message and conciuosness that only reggae brings across to my latin people " altafari haved playing open acts for artist such as  o`yaba, third world,  luciano, mikey general,  lee "scratch" perry.  Arrest development and haved colaborate with differents reggae sound sistems in sydney and melbourne like fire house, jesei i from shant down babilon , basslines, freedem sounds, freedom sounds, sounds of revolution, rebel soul crew jsut to name a few.at the moment altafari is working in what`s gonna be his first album title "ready fro the sunshine fire " wich contains songs in english and spanishyou could also cuch up altafari`s radio program "blazing roots and culture" every saturday at radio skid row 889 fm or also listene his music at www.myspace.com/altafari & http://www.myspace.com/altafarimusic

DJ Jonah  was born in Kano Nigeria (West Africa) & has been mixing, scratching and producing music for over a decade. In this time heís done many gigs both locally and overseas, a solo DJ and with MCs and groups. DJ Jonah has performed with groups such as Gong Baby & Sista She and is also a part of the production team West Labz aka 4:20 productions who have produced music for hip-hop group KillaQueenz, Lotek (Lotek Hi Fi) and Altafari to name just a few. As well as this DJ Jonah is the music director for Alchemy SBS Radio and co-hosts the Tipping Point on Alchemy with Kween G & Ran Dee every friday from 11pm. The Tipping Point always has its finger on the pulse
when it comes to hip hop, reggae, soul and dancehall both locally and world wide. 

Gonzo the mad Peruvian

Gonzo is a stray that wandered into the Uber Lingua equation... A peruvian who used to live in Sydney, now resides in Melbourne and has been welcomed onto the decks where he conjurs up some seriously good vibes... Reggae, Roots, Latin and Gypsy tunes that will melt the most hardened musical aficianado. 

Mashy P

Mashy P has been active in Sydney's underground playing, remixing and creating left-field beats from hip hop and dub to electro and techno since arriving from England in 1987. A few years back he traveled to Qatar and remixed local radio broadcasts putting together arabesque electro, beats and drum 'n bass. Since then, he's begun producing global music influenced electronic music, and has DJed at Uber Lingua parties in Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide alongside running the Sydney residencies since 2005. Most recently he toured Mexico, Canada and the USA gathering music. 

With cultural diversity his primary passion, Australian DJ/producer 'bP' (Brendan Palmer) has been representing the musically 'not so represented' for nearing two decades. He has wandered the world gathering sounds and has performed in places as diverse as Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, London, Tijuana, Mexico city and Helsinki to name a few...  In 2004 he launched Uber Lingua and his sonic activity has grown exponentially playing literally hundreds of gigs and promoting culturally charged music in most capital cities of Australia. bP's sets traverse language, culture, genre, history and social scenes; deliberately defiant of mainstream music fashions, he presents an intersection of underground and outernational sounds that capture his imagination. Roots to Futurism, East to West, Minimal to Maximal are all sonic stops on bP's translingual express. Brendan additionally works as a producer at the legendary Melbourne radio station Triple R during the day and presents the weekly 'Dialectic' radio program on the web and  Tasmania's Edge Radio.

The Cumbia Cosmonauts (Mex - Colombia - Melb)

The Cumbia Cosmonauts are Australia's first Cumbia Sound System, and features three core artists plus a rotating set of studio and live guest performers.Ý They have also remixed songs for Clorofila of Nortec Collective (Mexico), Tremor (Argentina) and Radiokijada (Peru/France).Ý Founding members are pseudo-Mexican Swiss-Tasmanian DJ and radio producer saca la mois DJ!! (aka Moses Iten), Tasmanian-born musician and producer Soup (aka Thomas Campbell) who is renowned as the man behind trip-hop act Miso, and accordeonist Don Carlos Parraga Garcia Rico Urunena Ijo Mal Parido, who is born to Colombian parents and fronts up gypsy-deathcore punks The Barons of Tang.

Man about town (Spain - Syd)

Michael Correa plays mostly alternative Latin, coming from a Spanish background and having hosted Ritmo on 2SER FM for three and a half years, all of his DJ sets have a huge Latin influence. From flamenco hip-hop to Chilean reggae to Baile Funk, the music is dynamic, dance orientated and sexy. 

Dub Chaman

Argentinean born, DJ Dubchaman represents the Sydney alternative Latin scene. A cumbia beats, reggae, dancehall and dub specialist, also plays bass guitar and efx as a member of 7 piece Sydney act 'Social Progression System'. With a flair for the rare groove, be it dub, free jazz, roots reggae, rub-a-dub, afrofunk, dancehall or musica latina and an ever expanding taste and knowledge of music styles, Dubchaman has been following this passion for music and honing his talents for more than twenty years. His focus is always about the feeling, the music and its message. Dubchaman never plans a set, avoiding predictability, never just settling for what's current. At the dawn of 2003, Dubchaman, together with other DJ's and MC's started Chimichanga, the first Latin alternative night in Sydney, with a residency at the World Bar.

Since then, Dubchaman has played sets at many different Clubs and Venues, such as The Basement, Canberra's Old Parliament House, Candy's Apartment, The World Bar, The Hippo Bar, and The Marquee to name a few. As a member of Uber lingua DJ's, Dubchaman has also played at St Jeromes, in Melbourne, Uber Lingua Nights @ The Abercrombie Hotel, and The Sydney Laneways Festival, often under SPS Cru, a Sound System with MC's and Percussion. In addition to his musical adventures, Dubchaman is a Graphics and Web Designer with more than 15 years experience. 

Tri-lingual DJ and emerging wordsmith sakamoiz is a post-Swiss pseudo-Mexican Tasmanian rogue, and his nomadic lifestyle benefits one of the planet's most sonically eclectic and linguistically diverse music collections. In July 2007 sakamoiz toured Mexico DJing as he went, and featuring as a guest on Tijuana public TV and cable, and on Radio Chanulpom, a Mayan community radio station. In 2004 sakamoiz presented Uber Lingua's 6 Tasmanian 'Lingo' parties in Hobart, touring mainland DJs from the north and also promoting local multicultural live performers and selectors. He also started the Dialectic Radio show on Edge Radio that has become Uber Lingua's central radio outlet. 

Brujo AKA Mario Gordon

Mario is a real connoisseur of international urban music, Reggae, Reggaeton, Retro Salsa, Alter Latin, Afro Pop and more. As DJ/Percussionist he has taken adventures into future world beats to venues such as Hippo Bar, The Basement, Sydney Opera House 'Studio' and Sydney Festival Beckís Bar. He's also performed in Tasmania, the Vic Music Festival and night clubs in Barcelona.

City of God ELECTRO

Guido Melo - From Brasil, now living in Australia... one very passionate man. His mother used to be a Capoeira champion music is part of his life since before he was born. Although he calls himself a Carioca (person natural from Rio de Janeiro) He was born in Salvador da Bahia in BrazilÇs northeast. His first flirt with the DJ scene happened in the late 80Çs when he used to go to the Baile Funks around town in Rio. After making his move to Melbourne in 2003 He has played at several events...
