Stu Buchanana (FBi / Fat Planet) Originally from Scotland (and with a highly flavoured accent to boot) Stuart Buchanan is the host of fat planet on FBi. A comrade of the international and multi-lingual music movement, Stuart has played killer dancefloor sets around Sydney since he hit the ground. Stuart delves into everything from Rock, electronics, crunk, minimalism and global sounds of many kinds beyond these examples... To quote Stuart's recent Fat Planet email ":... I'll possibly be playing some of the above 'bounce' ('Boston Bounce', the creation of a group of local Ds & J producers, based around DJ C (owner of the Mashit label) and DJ Flack), but I might also indulge in some of the choons at the back of the virtual crate..."
Madrid & Gordon (2SER World Vibes) Hailing from Caracas and Panama City respectively, these two guys are taking the alternative dance scene by storm offering a very unique set of international urban music that surprises and excites the partygoer. Frank Madrid is a music journalist and festival producer who came to the DJ circuit at the request of his loyal listeners at 2SER. He holds a regular residency at the very sophisticated Hippo bar, a tiny cocktail lounge in Canberra that has become the premier night in the capital attended by discerning students, funky diplomats and edgy public servants. Mario Gordon comes from Panama and is reggaeton expert and a widely recognised Latin percussionist. bP (Melb) As a DJ, bP (Melbourne) focuses on contemporary music in as many languages as possible, influenced by his time working with SBS. Different languages use different parts of the brain, and as languages not understood by a listener become a non-contextual sonic elements of any given piece of music, bP is inspired to discover as much 'post-world' music he possibly can.
DJ Sheerien DJ Sheerien is a Punjabi-Australian from the north coast of NSW is a Sub-continental specialist. She still works at Alchemy Radio and to quote the web site "competing for her affection is a variety of Bhangra beats, dub-infected dhol lines and rare bollywood bootlegs." Sheerien's developed strongly as a DJ over the past 2 years.
Mashy P Mashy P has been active in Sydney's underground
playing, remixing and creating leftfield beats from hip hop and dub to
electro and techno since arriving from England in 1987. Mashy P has
become increasingly interested in World music/electronic fusion, local
and international hip-hop, experimental RnB, Bastard pop, Bootlegs and
Mash Ups. Recently he travelled to Qatar to produce and DJ the show music
for Australia's Circus Worx. While in Qatar, he remixed and sampled
local radio broadcasts putting together arabesque electro, beats and drum
'n bass.
