And riding the waves LIVE will be trans-cultural hip hop mad men CURSE OV DIALECT from Melbourne & Latin-percussion-rap-dub-reggae explosion DUB PROGRESSION. It's been a while since 'Curse' have visited Sydney and with their new batch of 'coming album' material up their sleeve, they'll be sure to entertain with their regular wild-man meets circus-like theatre Hip Hop... Dub Progression are made up of Argentinian DJ Chaman with MC Hernan... alongside Panamanian Percussionist El Brujo... They provide a truly warming combination of smooth yet vibrant grooves... perfect stuff for a water adventure... We'll be running a bar all day & having an 'all food types' BBQ up on the top deck for the majority of the cruise!... The 'Mulgi' will pick up at King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour at 2pm sharp with further stops scheduled for 3pm, 6pm, 8pm & 10pm. We're planning to wander round a bit in the middle with journeys planned up the Parramatta river, Manly and Middle harbour if all goes to plan...

Dub Progression
alongside DJs
Mashy P Mashy P has been active in Sydney's underground playing, remixing and creating leftfield beats from hip hop and dub to electro and techno since arriving from England in 1987. Mashy P has become increasingly interested in World music/electronic fusion, local and international hip-hop, experimental RnB, Bastard pop, Bootlegs and Mash Ups. Recently he travelled to Qatar to produce and DJ the show music for Australia's Circus Worx. While in Qatar, he remixed and sampled local radio broadcasts putting together arabesque electro, beats and drum 'n bass.
DJ Sheerien DJ Sheerien is a Punjabi-Australian from the north coast of NSW is a Sub-continental specialist. She still works at Alchemy Radio and to quote the web site "competing for her affection is a variety of Bhangra beats, dub-infected dhol lines and rare bollywood bootlegs." Sheerien's developed strongly as a DJ over the past 2 years.
As a DJ, bP focuses on cutting edge music in "...as many languages as possible..." His recent sonic wanderings come as a result of his trips to Beijing and Montreal in mid-late 05. From these he's gathered a solid selection of killer Asian tracks, much modern Franco-phone music... bP's fairly obsessed with very modern evolutions in sound... expect to hear an evolution of the tangent he started taking at the turn of the century.
sakamoiz is a post-Swiss pseudo-Mexican Tasmania-based rogue, and his nomadic lifestyle benefits one of the planet's most sonically eclectic and linguistically diverse music collections. Host of the 8 to 10pm Saturday night slot 'Dialect-ic' on Hobart's Edge Radio, Sakamoiz'z selections are spiced with Latin, Arabic, African and Aboriginal grooves have been the flavour of his sets featuring everything from coin-swinging to glitch-reggae. |
